With a total of 12.780 cars produced, the 968 is a relatively rare car in Porsche’s line-up, with 4.374 convertibles made - powered by a torqy 3.0 liter VarioCam inline-four producing 240hp / 305 Nm coupled with a six-speed manual transaxle.

This 1992 Porsche 968 Cabriolet is an early production example of Porsche’s final evolution of the 4 cylinder transaxle platform. It left the Zuffenhausen factory on 5 February 1992 and was delivered in Bandol - the French Riviera on 21 February 1992 to a Mr. Alain Bornot. Here it spent the first stint of its life with three other known French owners.
After being imported to the Netherlands by the previous Dutch owner who kept the car in a collection, it was acquired and road registered in the Netherlands by the seller in May of 2018, using the car occasionally and adding 10.000 summer kilometers to the cars current 104.000 reading on the odometer.

Mr Bornot carefully specified his new Porsche. The timeless lines penned by Dutch designer Harm Lagaaij work well with the sophisticated Midnight Blue Metallic (“Nachtblau‑perlcolor”, factory code L37W). The exterior is matched with a dark blue electrically operated soft‑top in very good condition with a matching tonneau cover. The interior is finished in Porsche’s Marine Blue (factory code DS) with seats upholstered in a combination of leather and cloth and light blue piping. The first owner optioned the car with a factory supplied ZF limited‑slip differential, the desirable, power adjustable "Turbo" sport seats and air conditioning. Central locking, power windows, power steering, electronically adjustable mirrors and ABS was standard equipment on all 968’s. The car retains its original engine and transmission, as confirmed by the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity. Being a French‑market car (factory code: C05), it features yellow fog lights, French‑market instrument designation, and French documentation.

This car benefits from restoration work carried out under current and previous ownership. All electrical components - including the pop‑up headlights and semi-automated convertible top - operate correctly. A period correct and functioning Blaupunkt Symphony cassette/radio player is included, and a retro looking but modern Blaupunkt Doha with Bluetooth functionality is currently installed. A new Bosch battery was fitted in July 2026. In 2023, new Koni Yellow adjustable shock absorbers were installed. In March and April of 2026, the car received a fresh 2 year MoT/APK, timing‑belt service, oil service, full paint correction, and a professionally applied Labocosmetica ceramic coating. Numerous other tasks have been completed recently, including interior detailing with leather rejuvenation and new floor mats.

The car is currently fitted with Porsche 17‑inch CUP 1 wheels. A set of original 16‑inch wheels are included in the sale (see pictures); for a full list of accompanying parts see below. Car has been stored in a dry location. If you are interested, you are invited and encouraged to come inspect and scrutinize the car. For that purpose a scissor lift is available on appointment.
